Chicago Masquerade : Crooks, Politicians, and Vampires

We’ll see you on Thursday next week.

current rumors floating around in Chitown.

A general rumor of a mass murderer or sociopath is going around, fueled by the grisly details on the murder on Madison st. leaked by one of the more attentive tabloids. The tabloid was decidedly graphic, complete with pictures from the crime scene and a few excerpts from a “police file”. Could be faked, or could be real, but the pictures don’t look Photoshopped. Some of the local rumor mongers point to an old rumor about a “psycho” escaped from the old Mental Health facility on the north side, but no one believes it could be the same guy, just a copy cat.

Max- On top of the general rumor, you’ve heard via one of your sources that the cops are investigating an old crime scene in relation to the new. It’s not old in the sense that it’s “years” old, but for some reason the crime file seemed to have slipped everyone’s minds for one reason or another and only a new transfer from a different department brought up the fact that there hadn’t been much follow up, despite the computer record that it needed more investigation. You even get enough information from your ally that there was apparently a fairly important political person involved, and that the case file is missing, but he wasn’t willing to give you a name. The location? One of the more well known snobby hotels right downtown, room number 1006 penthouse suite.

Steve- On top of the general rumor, your friends (Mark and Mike i think?) tell you that they’re going out of town after New Years. On top of that, they warn you not to get too free with anyone at the party at the Fink which they intend to attend with you. Mark mentions that he heard that the cops were investigating some messy party from earlier in the season more thoroughly, and that it would be wise to try and keep a lower profile for a while. On the plus side, Van Buren has finally contacted you again, the details of which I will leave in a private message for you.

The Hook
Part 1

So our endeavoring Malkavian and potential Ventrue have met and been introduced each other, as well as gained information regarding both of their personal goals.

Max- Has learned that a bunch of cops came to the Fink and were quietly discussing the murder that quirked his interest, which was gruesome enough to make hardened veterans of the CPD go pasty white.

Steve- Has learned that the singer Marie makes an occasional appearance at the Fink, and is much admired by others in the city. He’s been told to expect the singer on New Years Eve by Brittany.

Both- Have learned that there’s a famous tattoo artist who owns a shop up the street from the Fink called Icarus Tattoo. Max knows several of the business people who were drinking with her. They’ve also met Brittany, who knows Max and Max’s partner Doug fairly well as well as the usual regulars. She seems to have a finger on the pulse of the North Side, or at least with most of her regular patrons.

We’ll say that they left the bar at closing time, after more or less enjoying each other’s company. Each of you can decide how to feel about the other on your own I think. :)

Information- The beginning
Why both of you end up at the scene

So, we have Schizo, the detective, and Stephen, the politician. Now, in normal world scenarios, these two people would likely never meet, right? Unless Stephen had a job for Schizo… but wait! You both live on the North Side, and where better for both of your personal quests than to go someplace where information is sure to be?

That brings us to the Friendly Fink. It’s likely in nights to come that the Fink will become a central piece in each of your quests, for reasons that will become clear later.

Stephen would know it as a top notch bar where anyone who’s anyone will know the rumor of the day, including gossip about local celebrities, congressmen, and artists.

Schizo will know it because its one of the beats he goes to to wind down at the end of the day. For one reason or another, the Friendly Fink has been around a while, though during Schizo’s mortal days it was called something different. Not much has changed about the interior since those days, aside from the fact that it’s always clean. It’s a place to shut out the modern world.

First Session Intro

The Daily Herald

Today at the corner of W.Madison and S.State street, right near the downtown heart of Chicago authorities were alarmed to find a fully dessicated corpse. No further details are yet released about the identity of the decomposing body, but the CPD has released a general statement that the person was most likely murdered. Police have increased a downtown presence until further information is discovered.

(Next Thursday, we’ll start our meeting)

the music festival and first contact.

Stephen has been introduced to Mr. VanBueren, a politician at a concert by a locally famous singer. Entranced and wondering why the singer, Marie, was not on a more public stage, stephen was asked by VanBueren to gain access to Marie’s personal affects. He challenged the young man, telling him that she wouldn’t give him the time of day without first persuing her for a year.

Will young stephen be able to affix Marie’s attention before the year is up? What can be in store for others in Chicago?

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
